The Pier master's House

The Pier master's house is situated on the Albert Dock next to the Tate gallery it houses a unique view into wartime [1939-45] Liverpool as each room is recreated as would have been during wartime.

The kitchen area note the early sewing machine , the clothes drying on a maiden , and the kitchen range, a cast iron fireplace that was used as a cooker in many homes , note also the flat iron on the range this was used when heated to press clothes before electric irons . And the kettle always ready to boil water for tea .

The scullery area note the dolly used with the adjacent tub as a washing machine [ by hand ],the teapot with it's cosy ready for visitors , the single stoneware sink , and the early gas stove.

The living room note the open fireplace and the wireless [ radio ] and blackout curtains.

The bedrooms note the children's wooden toys , and iron bedsteads . The Pier master's house is open most days and is well worth a visit back in time.
