Liverpool Town Hall

Liverpool Town Hall stands in Dale Street in the city centre . It was originally built by John Wood the first stone being laid in 1749, and it opened in 1754. The building was altered in the late 18th Century by John Foster Snr who began his alterations in 1796. The dome was designed by James Wyatt . In 1795 the building was extensively damaged by fire and most of the original building designed by John Wood was gutted. The present dome was finished in 1802 , and the front was completed by 1811.
