The church of Our Lady and St Nicholas

On the strand nearly opposite the Liver Building stands the Church of Our Lady and St Nicholas . This church is the parish church of Liverpool and is known as the Mariner's church .There has been a church on this site since 1257 when a chapel was built on the site known as St Mary le Quay. The present church dates from 1952 when the church was rebuilt following the destruction of the old church in a bombing raid in 1940 .
